Mandu is a great pilgrim centre for Hindus, situated at an altitude of 1065 mt in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh. It is a sankrit word which means immortal (amar) obstruction (kantak). The poet Kalidas has mentioned it as Amarkoot, which later became Amarkantak.

It is source of origin of three important rivers (Narmada, Sone and Juhila). Narmada occupies a unique place among all the sacred rivers of India. It's a place where Vindhya and the Satpura ranges meet. The place is famous for "Shivratri Mela" which is held anually during the festival of Shivratri. Sonemuda is the place of origin of Sone river. It gets its name form gold as the gold dust is found in the water of Sone. The third river is Juhila River situated at a distance of 8 kn from Amarkantak on Shahdol road.
Nearest airport is Dumna Jabalpur (240 km) and nearest railway station is Pendra Road from (48 km) from Chhatisgarh.

Omkareshwar

Omkareshwar is set on the confluence of the rivers Narmada and Kaveri. Omkareshwar has one of the twelve Jyothirlingas enshrined in the temple of Omkar Mandhata amidst beautiful surroundings. This medieval temple was built in Brahmani style and is encircled by the river Narmada and its strem Kaveri.

The architecture of the temple is magnificient. Gouri Somnath Temple, Siddhanath temple of the island and one cave of Adi Shankaracharya are other spots of significance here.

The nearest air station is Indore which is at a distance of 77 kms from here.
