Orchha means
"hidden place", situated 16 kms from Jhansi in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It
is well known for its excellent architecture with traditionalism with
modernity. It was founded in the 16th Century by the Bundela Rajput, Rudra
Pratap. The city became the capital of the Bundelas in the year 1531. Today
Orchha is known for its palaces and temples built during Bundelas period. |

Orchha is famous for temples like Raja Ram Temple, the Chathurbhuj and the Laxminarayn temple. Jehangir Mahal, Raj Mahal, Rai Parveen Mahal, Phool Bagh and Dinman Hardaul's Palace are a must visit. Best season to visit is October-March. Gwalior is the nearest airport connected with Delhi, Bhopal, Indore amd Mumbai. Jhansi is the nearest railway station. All major mail and express trains stop at Jhansi. Regular bus services connect Orchha with Jhansi. |
